playclaw 5 plus not recording in game mode

Terraria's fps stayed around 48-52, Minecraft at 28-35.

I figured it was the game itself, so I tried out a few others. I thought this weird, since I felt like my build should be able to run a 6 year old game at 60FPS while recording. I re-installed Assassin's Creed II earlier this weekend and started thinking: 'Maybe I should set up Dxtory and try recording for fun.' After installing, downloading the codec and fiddling with the settings I tried to record, but lo and behold - the game didn't stay capped at 60FPS while recording (it bounced around 50-55, sometimes even dropping as far as 39). I recently recieved my new PC and with all the preparation (studying, research, art, etc) we've done - I felt like we were ready to be able to start recording on Tuesday evening/Wednesday (moving back to my apartment). I've also not found a thing or solution on the web that would help even a bit.

First of all I'm sorry because this probably belongs in the Technical Tuesday thread, but I've been pulling my hair out for hours trying to figure out why this happens and I'm about to lose my goddamn mind.
